Children needed for musical at CCU

January 21, 2010

Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Theatre will be holding auditions for children's roles in the upcoming musical "The Will Rogers Follies, A Life in Revue." Auditions will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Myrtle Beach Education Center.

The cast includes parts for one girl and three boys who will play the parts of Will and Betty Roger’s children. Roles include Will Jr. (11 to 12 years old), Mary (9 to 10 years old), James (8 to 9 years old), and Freddy (7 to 8 years old). Children must be able to sing and dance. Experience in theatre or experience on stage is a plus.

Children who audition will be taught a song from the show and a short dance combination to perform for auditions. If selected, children must be available for rehearsals and all performances.

The University's Myrtle Beach Education Center is located at 79th Avenue North and U.S. 17 Bypass.

Rehearsals for the show will begin Feb. 28. Barbara Hartwig, lecturer and artist in residence at CCU, will be directing and choreographing the show. Aaron McAllister, assistant professor of theatre, will be music directing.

The performance dates for "The Will Rogers Follies" are April 15 through April 24. For more information, call the Box Office at 843-349-2502.
