Nonfiction writer to read at Coastal Carolina University

Eula Biss will present a creative nonfiction reading as a part of Coastal Carolina University’s Words to Say It Visiting Writers Series at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 in Wall Auditorium. A small reception and book-signing will follow the reading. The event is free and open to the public.

Biss is the author of “The Balloonists” and “Notes from No Man’s Land,” winner of the 2008 Graywolf Press Nonfiction Prize. She is currently artist in residence at Northwestern University where she teaches nonfiction writing and is co-editor of Essay Press, a small press dedicated to innovative nonfiction.

Biss earned a bachelor’s degree in nonfiction writing from Hampshire College and a Master in Fine Arts degree in nonfiction writing from the University of Iowa. She received a Rona Jaffe Writer’s Award and a Pushcart Prize. Her essays have recently appeared in “The Best Creative Nonfiction” and the “Touchstone Anthology of Contemporary Nonfiction,” as well as in “The Believer,” “Ninth Letter,” “Iowa Review” and “Harper’s.”

The reading is supported by the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts and Department of English.
