Students present proposals for Waccamaw Pottery area

April 21, 2010

Coastal Carolina University resort tourism management students will present their senior seminar proposals on Thursday, April 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Wall Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

As part of the requirements for their senior seminar, students in Professor Taylor Damonte's class created hypothetical site development plans for the area formerly known as the Waccamaw Outlets, Fantasy Harbor, Hard Rock Park, and most recently, Freestyle Music Park. Six groups of students will present.

The students, who have been working on the project since January, will address a range of factors including market demand, financial feasibility from the perspective of both a developer and county government, and quality of life issues. Design elements chosen by some of the teams include an arena, indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, cafés, shops, restaurants, and a variety of lodging facilities.
