Campus Salvage to kick off recycling effort
Campus Salvage accepts all usable, unbroken items including electronics, furniture, bedding, room décor, clothes, food and unopened toiletries. All items collected will be sorted into two categories: donation to local charities or Campus Salvage sale. The sale is open to the public and will be held Wednesday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Coastal Science Center, Room 300. All proceeds will benefit the University’s Sustainability Initiative environmental stewardship and awareness programs on campus.
Campus Salvage won the 2009 Recycling Event of the Year award from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. Last year the event used two Portable On Demand Storage (PODS) units to collect items, however, this year the group plans on using 17 PODS. The PODS, which will be placed in various campus locations, will allow easy access and the convenient loading of items.
