CCU’s annual Cultural Celebration set for Sept. 15

Coastal Carolina University will host the 19th annual Cultural Celebration festival from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15 on Prince Lawn. The event is free and open to the public. The rain date is Thursday, Sept. 23 at the same time and location.

The event is designed to involve all areas of campus in celebrating cultural diversity by highlighting the history, music, dance, art and food of other countries and cultures.

Coastal Carolina University's Brazilian Drum Ensemble and C-PAN band will perform. The Myrtle Beach Pipe Band and Irish dancer Sinead Fitzgerald, a university freshman, will perform as well.

Visiting performers include the Charlotte Salsa and Yasmine and Magic Hips of Charlotte, N.C., as well as the Adande Dance Company of North Charleston.

In addition to ethnic entertainment, there will be arts and jewelry on display, and offerings of cuisine from various countries. Tables will be set up for the University's student organizations and clubs to showcase different cultures.
