Salvino appointed new research economist at CCU

  Rob Salvino  
Robert F. Salvino has been named to the position of research economist with the BB&T Center for Economic and Community Development in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University.

Salvino has been on the CCU faculty since 2007 as an assistant professor of economics in the Wall College of Business.

His duties include conducting research in the areas of economic impact and development, as well as cost/benefit analyses for public and private projects. He will develop and maintain a database of regional economic indicators and will publish economic forecasts. Salvino will serve as a liaison with the area business community and state and local governments.

Salvino has taught macroeconomics, microeconomics and entrepreneurship. His academic research interests include public choice, law and economics, and the economics of entrepreneurship. His applied research and consulting focus on state and local economic development and business development analysis.

Prior to his academic career, he worked in Columbus, Ohio, as a geologist for a civil engineering firm and as a large loss property claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance. He earned a bachelor's degree in geology from Marshall University and a Ph.D. in economics from Georgia State University in 2007. He completed his undergraduate work at Marshall University in 1997. He lives in Murrells Inlet with his wife and two daughters.
