CCU holds auditions for children’s parts

November 29, 2010

Coastal Carolina University's Department of Theatre will hold auditions for children's roles in its upcoming production of “The Music Man.” Auditions will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Myrtle Beach Education Center, located at 79th Avenue North and U.S. 17 Bypass.

The cast includes parts for three girls and three boys. Roles include Winthrop Paroo (6 to 10 years old), Amaryllis (6 to 10 years old) and four children in the ensemble. Children must be able to sing and dance. Experience in theater or experience on stage is a plus.

Children will be taught a song from the show and a short dance combination to perform for auditions. Children auditioning for the role of Paroo or Amaryllis will read from the script. If selected, children must be available for rehearsals and all performances.

Rehearsals for the show will begin Monday, Jan. 3. The performance dates for “The Music Man” are Feb. 10 through Feb. 19. To register for auditions or for more information, contact Monica Bell at 843-349-2287.
