CCU hosts discussion on business uses of social media
Nocera, who is in charge of social networking strategy for PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the world’s leading financial institutions, will discuss the business potential of social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. His presentation will also highlight the career opportunities as well as the personal risks involved in the use of social media.
“For businesses, social networking can be a transformational phenomenon, introducing completely new ways of engaging consumers and new ways to empower and engage employees and stakeholders in the business supply chain,” says Nocera. “However, new media also involves risks for business as its misuse can create negative brand image and data security breaches.”
Nocera earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management information systems, in 1997 from the University of Notre Dame. He has significant experience in Information Technology (IT) applications in the banking and insurance industries. He leads the Chief Information Officer (CIO) advisory practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Chicago market.
“The potential of social networking in the business world is a subject that deserves close attention,” says J. Ralph Byington, dean of the Wall College of Business. “We are delighted to have Joe Nocera, whose expertise in this area is widely recognized, share his insights with our students and community.”
