Lackey Chapel to be dedicated

February 10, 2011

The dedication ceremony of the Lackey Chapel at Coastal Carolina University is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13. The Lackey Chapel is located at the corner of University Boulevard and University Drive.

The chapel is named in memory of the late Ronald Lackey. Lackey joined CCU faculty in 1974 as dean of student affairs. He served as associate professor of religious studies and university chaplain before retiring in 1994.

The idea for the chapel originated with Sarah and A. Edward Jackson of Myrtle Beach, who gave a substantial gift toward its construction.

The interdenominational chapel will be available to student religious organizations and any group with spiritual focus. It may be used for memorial services, weddings, campus group functions and other special occasions.
