Coastal Carolina University's Division of Extended Learning and Public Services is sponsoring a workshop titled "Beyond Bilingualism: What it Takes to Become a Translator or Interpreter," to be held Monday, July 30 from 1 to 6 p.m. in Coastal's H. Dale Williams Center for Extended Learning 228. Fee for the workshop is $49.

The workshop is designed for those who are fluent in English and Spanish or business leaders who use or may need to use translators and interpreters. Participants will learn about the requirements of the profession, including training, equipment and investment of time and money. Professionalism, marketing and job opportunities will also be addressed.

Instructor for the workshop is M. Eta Trabing, a court certified translator and interpreter. Trabing is past president of the Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters, and is certified by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts as a Spanish interpreter.
