March 22, 2011

Black Violin, a duo of classically trained violinists that fuses hip-hop with classical music, will perform at Coastal Carolina University at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Wil B and Kev Marcus, along with their DJ, have toured around the world, playing their original stringed sound combination of jazz, hip-hop, funk and classical that incorporates influences from Bach to Jay-Z. In 2005, the group was given the Apollo Legend award by the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

In addition to promoting its debut album, Black Violin is also dedicated to giving back to kids in an effort to help them “think outside the box,” with performances, workshops and festivals at schools throughout North America. For additional information on the group, visit www.blackviolin.net.
