Coastal Carolina University’s Brass Choir to perform

Coastal Carolina University’s Brass Choir will perform “Brass for a Festive Evening” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8 in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. The concert will be the debut performance for the ensemble.

The group will also feature a performance with local community brass ensemble The Festive Brass of Myrtle Beach. The CCU Brass Choir will perform music ranging from brassy fanfares, classical favorites, folk tunes, toe-tapping marches and new age compositions to orchestral transcriptions.

The CCU Brass Choir directed by Matthew M. Shrewsbury, lecturer of music and assistant director of bands at CCU. The ensemble is comprised of 17 students of all majors performing a varied repertoire of brass music with trumpets, French horns, euphoniums, trombones, percussionists and a tuba.

General admission is $3; CCU and Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) students are allowed one free ticket per valid ID; CCU and HGTC faculty and staff are allowed two free tickets per valid ID; and children (ages 10 and under) are free.
