Student employees recognized at CCU

April 20, 2011

Timothy Bardlavens, a senior graphic design major from Columbia, has been named the 2010-2011 Student Employee of the Year at Coastal Carolina University. Christopher Miller of Conway has been named the 2010-2011 Graduate Assistant of the Year.

Bardlavens is a student assistant in the Office of Student Activities and Leadership and was nominated for the award by his supervisor, Whitney Comer, director of Student Activities and Leadership.

“Tim can run our office without direction, which takes a lot,” says Comer. “He never sends someone away without an answer or a resource to help them. Recognizing the need to establish a better marketing plan for the office, Tim volunteered to do it. He has taken our office to another level.”

Miller is a graduate assistant in the Wall College of Administration and was nominated by his supervisor, John Lox, director of MBA program.

“Since his arrival, he has been pro-active in the revamping of our marketing efforts as well as overhauling our databases to a more user-friendly system,” says Lox. “His long hours of dedication in such activities and his going the extra mile are hallmarks of his character.”

Forty-three students were nominated for this year’s awards, which are presented annually to recognize exceptional student employees at the University.
