Summer students exhibit art work

June 22, 2011

The Summer Arts Academy Exhibit, featuring works produced in this year's summer arts camp, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 24 in the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery at Coastal Carolina University.

The University's Department of Visual Arts hosted this two-week program for area 7th- through 12th-grade students. Art professor Susan Slavik directed the art program.

The next exhibition in the Bryan gallery, "Dionaea Muscipula: The Work of Theresa Hackett," will run June 30 through Aug. 26.

The exhibit will display works by New York contemporary artist Theresa Hackett, known for her hybrid, abstract landscapes and juxtaposed, mixed-media sculptures. A closing reception and gallery talk with the artist will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25.

The gallery summer hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fridays. The gallery will be closed on University holidays, including July 4.
