'Sing-Off' winner Committed coming to CCU

September 2, 2011

The a cappella group Committed will perform at Coastal Carolina University's Wheelwright Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22. Tickets for the premium performance are $15-$20, with a $5 discount for alumni, seniors (65 and older), teens (ages 11 to 17) and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members; $10 for CCU and HGTC faculty and staff and $5 for CCU and HGTC students and children age 10 and younger.

The dynamic, six-man singing group earned national fame by winning first place on NBC’s hit competition show, "The Sing Off." The sextet is known for its spirituality and versatility: four of the six are instrumentalists and all are able to sing multiple styles of music, including gospel, pop, R&B, contemporary worship and jazz. Collectively, the group shows a wide range of influence, including Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, BeBe & CeCe Winans and Boyz II Men.

Committed's goal is one of music ministry for their Christian faith. Members include Maurice Staple, Alain Gervais, Theron Thomas II and Robert Pressley Jr., all tenors; Dennis Baptiste Jr., baritone, and Geston Pierre, bass. The group is from Huntsville, Ala.
