The Coastal Carolina University Band Program will showcase a variety of music at the Seventh Annual Spectrum Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at Wheelwright Auditorium.
James L. Tully, professor of music and director of bands, leads student music groups for an hour of uninterrupted music. The event features everything from guitars to drums, and styles from classical to jazz to show tunes. The grand finale spotlights the CCU Symphonic Band as they perform "Danzas Cubanas" and one of John Philip Sousa's most popular marches.
The event is the first-ever Coastal Band Program fundraising concert. CCU Bands and the Office of Philanthropy have united to raise money for needed improvements to the marching band's practice field and for new uniforms.
General admission is $9; alumni, senior citizens (ages 65 and over) and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Members are $7; CCU and HGTC faculty and staff are $3 (two per valid ID); CCU and HGTC students are $3 (one per valid ID); teens (ages 11 to 17) are $3; and children (10 and under-must be accompanied by an adult) are free with ticket.
