CCU professor to discuss morality of capitalism

Michael Latta, professor of marketing at Coastal Carolina University, will lead a discussion on the “Moral Basis of Capitalism” at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Admission is free and open to the public.

The event will be repeated Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 4:30 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Higher Education Center, Room 206, at 79th Avenue North and U.S. 17 Bypass.

Latta will discuss important figures in the history of moral philosophy and economics such as Adam Smith, Karl Marx, John Maynard Keynes and John Bogle.

Latta, who joined the CCU faculty in 2005, is an associate dean of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. He earned a Ph.D. in psychology from Iowa State University.
