CCU's gospel group to perform seasonal concert

December 1, 2011

Coastal Carolina University's Coastal Inspirational Ambassadors gospel choir will give the gift of music for its seasonal gospel concert at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in Wheelwright Auditorium. The concert is free, but tickets are required.

The 60-member gospel choir will present a seasonal lineup of songs that includes many Christmas favorites, and the African American Association will also offer a Kwanzaa presentation. Kwanzaa is the week-long celebration of African-American culture, starting Dec. 26 and going through Jan. 1.

The mission of the Inspirational Ambassadors is to offer positive and inspiring gospel music programs that perpetuate the tradition of gospel music. It also strives to raise awareness of the importance of gospel in the preservation of African-American history. The choir, directed by David Manigo, performs on campus and at events across the region. Earlier this year, the choir toured and performed in high schools in North and South Carolina, as well as Maryland.

Tickets may be picked up at the Wheelwright Box Office 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or prior to the performance. For more information, call 843-349-2502.
