CCU presents recital of English songs

Jeffrey Jones (baritone) and Daniel Francis (piano) of Coastal Carolina University's Department of Music will perform a recital of English songs at the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Recital Hall on Monday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m.

The performance will highlight two contrasting works: “Songs of Travel” by Ralph Vaughan Williams and “Mirages” by William Alwyn.

Jones, an assistant professor of music at CCU, earned a bachelor's degree in music from the University of North Texas and a master's degree and a D.M.A. from Arizona State University. He is also a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy.

Francis, staff pianist for the CCU Department of Music, earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Bob Jones University and a master’s degree in piano performance from the University of South Carolina. He was the 2004 regional winner of the South Carolina Music Teacher's Association Young Artist Piano Competition.

Ticket prices are: general admission, $3; CCU and Horry Georgetown Technical College students, free with ticket (one per valid ID); CCU and HGTC faculty/staff, free with ticket (two per valid ID); and children (ages 10 and under), free with ticket, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Wheelwright Auditorium Box Office and at the Recital Hall prior to the event.
