Testone rocks 'American Idol'

CCU alumna Elise Testone performs on "American Idol."
American Idol' saved the best for last during the last March performance of the nine remaining singers, and it was Elise Testone.

The CCU graduate (2005) sang Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" to end the show with a rock 'n' roll standard that got her a standing ovation from the celebrity judges and the audience.

And, in rehearsal, she sang a charming, winning duet with Stevie Nicks, who was coaching the singers prior to the show.

"As Stevie pointed out, Led Zepplin is not easy to sing, but one would never guess that after hearing and seeing Elise's performance on Wednesday. Not only did Elise hit every single note with perfect pitch and conviction, she completely owned the stage," wrote the Christian Science Monitor.

The weekly eliminations continue Wednesdays and Thursdays on the popular reality show, so be sure to vote for Elise.

The New Jersey native was a mainstay on the CCU campus, where she earned a degree in musical theater, performing with the late English professor Paul Rice, and vocal teacher David Bankston, as well as in the POP 101 group and various bands around town.

She made her TV debut on the season opener, singing Janis Joplin's "Get It While You Can," and wowed the three celebrity judges.

Testone has been living in Charleston since 2006, working as a voice teacher and performing at various venues.
