The All-American boys chorus to perform April 30

The All-American Boys Chorus, celebrating its 30th year, will perform at Coastal Carolina University on Sunday, April 30 at 3 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Tickets are $15, $10 for children under 18.

The internationally acclaimed group will present Salute To America and Her Music, which includes selections from Broadway, the music of the Beach Boys, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and George M. Cohan, as well as several patriotic songs.

The chorus, founded in 1970 and headquartered in Costa Mesa, Calif., features 36 boys, ages nine to 14 years old. Concert tours take place each summer for 25 to 30 days. The chorus has produced four full- length albums, including its latest production featuring audience favorites, "By Request!" The group has performed with Opera Pacific, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the William Hall Master Chorale.

The All-American Boys Chorus has performed worldwide, including in Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev in the former Soviet Union; Bucharest, Sibiu and Iasi in Romania; Vienna and Salzburg in Austria; Venice, Florence, Assisi and Rome in Italy; Grachen and Zermatt in Switzerland; and Friesing and Erlangen in Germany. The chorus' most recent overseas concert tour was to the eight largest cities in Japan.

The chorus, which has been featured on the Disney Channel and the Tournament of Roses Parade, has appeared with numerous entertainers including Bob Hope, Tony Bennett, Paul Anka, Melissa Manchester and Mary Hart. They have also shared the stage with several U.S. presidents, Chancellor Helmut Kohl of Germany, Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf and Gen. Colin Powell.

The performance is being funded, in part, by a $3,000 grant from Target of Myrtle Beach.
