CCU theatre students to perform staged readings

Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Theatre will present staged readings of “Alligator” at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 11, and at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 12, and “Helen of Troy” at 3 and 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 12. All readings will take place at the Edwards Theatre in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, and are free and open to the public.

The pieces will be semi-staged and presented with script and score in hand by CCU theatre students. Also, the award-winning creative teams for each piece will be on hand to answer questions from the audience about their work.

“Helen of Troy” is written by Zoe Samuels with music by Douglas Cohen. The production is directed by Marlo Hunter with musical production by Steven Gross. The cast includes Kimberly Ward, Shannon Burke, Alexa Doggett, Taylor Wright, Eric Waters, Michael Lawrence, Justin Abels, Charles Armstrong, Sarah Cataldo, Sarah Burton, Erin Dooley and Collen Kerrigan.

“Alligator” is written by Hillary Bettis and directed by John Woodson. The cast includes Emily Dixon, Justina Adorno, Dan Wilt, Brantley Ivey, Connor Kendall, Hannah Zilber and Nathan Smith. “Alligator” contains adult content and is for mature audiences only.
