Nearly 3,000 new freshman and transfer students will join the Coastal Carolina University family this fall semester when Welcome Week 2012 kicks off beginning Thursday, Aug. 16.

Welcome Week 2012 starts with residence hall check-in on Thursday, Aug. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for on campus students. Freshmen not living in University housing are required to check in with CCU from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

CCU's new HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center will hold the annual New Student Convocation on Friday, Aug. 17, at 3:30. New students will have a chance to meet the University president, as well as various deans, vice presidents and faculty members. A tour of the facilities will be offered for new students from 8 to 9 p.m. and at several other times throughout Welcome Week.

Other events are planned for Welcome Week as well, such as a President's reception for parents, academic advising sessions, First Year Experience classes and many more. For the complete schedule, visit www.coastal.edu/welcomeweek.
