The 2002 Australian film "Rabbit-Proof Fence" opens Coastal Carolina University's Foreign Film Series on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. in the James J. Johnson Auditorium, in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. The public is welcome, and admission is free.

The movie is based on the true story of three "half-caste" (half white, half aboriginal) girls, plucked from their families and sent to a re-education camp where they are to become more mainstreamed. The film also follows their attempt to make the nine-week, 1,500-mile long journey back home, while being pursued by an aboriginal tracker and the director of the camp. The Jackson Center will host a discussion to explore the ethical questions raised in the film following its showing.
