CCU to host 13th annual holiday concert

Coastal Carolina University's Concert, Chamber and Flute Choirs will perform an annual holiday concert Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Conway.

Under the direction of Frances T. Sinclair, associate professor at CCU, the choirs will perform classical and traditional holiday music. Accompaniment will be provided by members of the CCU percussion ensemble. Selections will include "Verbum Caro Factum est" by Hans Leo Hassler, "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen, the familiar holiday songs "In the Bleak Midwinter," "White Christmas" and Mark Hayes' fun variations of "Jingle Bells." In keeping with tradition, the concert will conclude with Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus."

Sinclair, director of choral activities at the University, earned a bachelor's degree in piano performance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master's degree in choral conducting from Florida State University. Sinclair received her Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Amy Hardison Tully, assistant professor of music, directs the Flute Choir. She earned a master's degree in musicology from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in flute performance from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Tully is a member of the Long Bay Symphony and has been a featured guest soloist at the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach.
