The Coastal Carolina University Percussion Ensemble will present its annual fall concert titled "The Crystals" on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. A ticket is required.

The Percussion Ensemble, under direction of Jesse Willis, will feature works by both classic and contemporary composers such as Christopher Rouse, David J. Long, Chick Corea as well as xylophone great George Hamilton Green. The Ensemble features over 50 instruments including the marimba, timpani, vibraphone, the snare drum and many more.

Willis, director of percussion studies at the University, earned a dual bachelor's degree in music and music education from Texas Tech University, and a master's degree in music at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Willis instructs the Spirit of the Chanticleer percussion section and directs all of the CCU percussion ensembles including the Steel Pan Ensemble, the Brazilian Ensemble and the Afro-Cuban Ensemble.

CCU's percussion program involves its students in the art of making music. They provide opportunities to become a well-rounded player, teacher and performer in order to successfully enter the ever-changing percussion work force.
