Professor and author to give reading

University of Michigan professor/author Natalie Bakopoulos will read from her recent book, "The Green Shore," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at the James J. Johnson Auditorium (formerly Wall Auditorium) at CCU. The event is free and open to the public.

"The Green Shore" is set in Athens and Paris between 1967 and 1974 during a time of political turmoil and chaos in Greece. Bakopoulous describes the country and culture of Greece through the complexities of a family's struggle. The detailed stories of each family member reflect the lives of Greek citizens during a time of political crisis.

Bakopoulos, a lecturer of English language and literature at the University of Michigan, earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The New York Times Book Review, Tin House, Ninth Letter and the O. Henry Prize Stories 2010.

A reception and book signing will follow Bakopoulos's reading. The book will also be available for purchase. The auditorium is located in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at 119 Chanticleer Drive E. across from the residence halls.

This is the second event of this year's Words to Say It Visiting Writers Series at CCU. For more information, contact Dan Albergotti at 843-349-2420.
