Echo flute and guitar duo to perform in Edwards Recital Hall

Flutist Chris Vaneman and guitarist/composer Brian DuFord, collectively known as Echo, will perform on Friday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall at Coastal Carolina University. The show is open to the public.

Their program will feature original compositions by DuFord, whose music has been performed nationally by the Borealis Wind Quintet and the Moussai Ensemble, and internationally by Trio Altove 1.3 and Imani Winds. The pair will also perform works of other contemporary composers, such as Astor Piazzolla and Robert Beaser.

After two years of serving as a resident ensemble for the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, the twosome decided to resume touring in 2011. They have led concerts in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, North and South Carolina, as well as multiple performances at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. (The duo was formed at the Yale School of Music in 1992).

Ticket prices are: general admission, $3; CCU and Horry Georgetown Technical College students, free with ticket (one per valid ID); CCU and HGTC faculty/staff, free with ticket (two per valid ID); children (ages 10 and under), free with ticket (must be accompanied by an adult). The Recital Hall is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. in Conway.
