CCU's Kimbel Library receives Muslim Journeys award

Coastal Carolina University's Kimbel Library is one of only 842 public, academic and community college libraries in the nation to receive the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf Award from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Each library selected to participate in the NEH Bookshelf Program will receive 25 books, three films and access to Oxford Islamic Studies Online for one year.

The aim of the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf is to establish an introduction as well as deeper studies related to the intricate history, beliefs and practices of Islamic cultures in the United States and around the world. This installation is the first in the NEH Bridging Cultures Initiative. These bookshelves offer libraries the tools to engage the community in discussions about cultural diversity and civility.
