Coastal Carolina University's Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values introduces a new lecture series, "The Philosopher's Corner," on Monday, Feb. 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the James J. Johnson Auditorium. Neil Sinhababu from the National University of Singapore will lead the first discussion titled, "The Epistemic Argument for Hedonism."Attendance is free and the public is invited.

Sinhababu will present his theory that what is good is what makes us happy. He believes his theory could lead to a version of ethical hedonism, where we consider rather than reject certain hedonic ideas.

Sinhababu is an assistant professor of philosophy at the National University of Singapore. He earned his bachelor's degree from Harvard and his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin. His specializations include ethics and metaethics.

Jackson Center Director Sara Sanders describes the new Philosopher's Corner series as "a space where different points of view can be heard and discussed respectfully."
