Writer, director and performance artist Terry Galloway presents her newest solo show, "You Are My Sunshine," for the Explorations Lecture Series on Tuesday, March 19, from 5:30 to 6.30 p.m. in the James J. Johnson Auditorium of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University. Galloway created "You Are My Sunshine" for the renowned TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) Talks Series. The show is free and open to the public.

Galloway is internationally renowned for her monologues, poems, prose and performances. Like her formats, the topics covered in her work are wildly ranging; queerness, deafness, disability, theater and Elvis. Her memoir, "Mean Little deaf Queer," was published by Beacon Press in 2009. (She recently regained her hearing after receiving cochlear implants.)

Galloway, an alumnus of Shakespeare at Winedale at the University of Texas, is the founder of Actual Lives, a theater troupe for disabled adults and a founding member of Esther's Follies in Austin, Texas. Currently, she is a co-founder, writer, director and actor at the Mickee Faust Alternative Performance Club, in association with the Mickee Faust Academy for the REALLY Dramatic Arts in Tallahassee, Fla.

Galloway tours extensively with her partner/director/interpreter, Donna Marie Nudd, and their performances have been described as an off-beat teaching tool that has garnered Galloway grants, fellowships and awards, including the Best Swimmer Award from the Lions Camp for Crippled Children.
