CCU reaches out to fire victims

Coastal Carolina University students, faculty and staff are collecting donations for 10 students who lost their lodgings and belongings in the Windsor Green fire at Carolina Forest this past Saturday. Some staff members are also affected by the incident. Twenty-six buildings of condos and single-family homes were destroyed in the fire.

The Lib Jackson Student Center is the collection point for all donations, including clothing, personal hygiene supplies, bedding, blankets and school supplies.

Any student affected by the fire should contact Dean of Students Travis Overton at 843-349-4160. University Housing has identified housing space for students who have lost their lodging. Food vouchers are available from Aramark. Students in need may apply for financial help through a special emergency financial aid fund. Goodwill Industries is providing vouchers for three outfits of clothing. Counseling Services is available to provide counseling assistance.

Volunteer Services is helping to coordinate the relief effort. For more information about volunteer efforts, call Felisha Clark at 843-349-2939.
