Rabbi Deborah Slavitt will deliver a presentation on "Jewish Mysticism: Love as a Union with God" at the next Living in Love event on Monday, April 15, at 4:30 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University's Lackey Chapel. The public is invited to this free event.

Slavitt, a teaching associate in CCU's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, will discuss Jewish mysticism and the idea of love as a union of the individual with the divine.

"I want to explore how 19th century Hasidic masters developed a language to describe the radical oneness of God and the role of humans in the fabric of all existence," she says.

Slavitt earned a bachelor's degree in ancient Greek and Latin from Bryn Mawr College, a master's degree in health services administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and another master's degree in Judaic studies from Hebrew College in Newton Centre, Ma. Slavitt completed her Rabbi training at the Academy for Jewish Religion in Yonkers, N.Y.
