CCU students bring Shakespeare to Brookgreen

June 13, 2013

Every Wednesday evening this summer, students in Coastal Carolina University's BFA theatre program will present "This Wooden O," a compilation of Shakespearean scenes, songs and sonnets.

The "Wooden O" was Shakespeare's term for London's Globe Theatre, where many of his plays were performed. The show is a revue highlighting elements from the Bard's most popular plays, and also featuring chase scenes and audience participation.

The show is directed by veteran actor/director John Woodson, teaching associate in CCU's Department of Theatre, and Monica Bell, associate professor of theatre. Student performers include Krista Gierlach, Shaleigh Christine Phillips, Connor Kendall, Suzanna Grindle, Nathan Smith, Stephen Craig, and Nate Louis Quetel.

The show runs from 7 to 7:45 p.m. each Wednesday at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet.
