Coastal Carolina University is rolling out a new license plate with a contemporary design of teal and bronze, featuring the Chanticleer mascot, Chauncey. The license plate is now available through the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

The CCU license plate will cost $70 plus the registration fee. The plates are available to registered South Carolina drivers, but the CCU Alumni Association board of directors hopes to offer it in other states as early as 2014.

The new plate may be purchased online at coastal.edu/alumni. The site lists options to order a new plate or exchange a plate for a new design. Those who have already renewed their CCU plate can pay a $6 fee to change over to the new design.
