"T.I.R.E.D. of a Sluggish Economy? Learn how Technology, Innovation, Rates, Economy and Discussion Paint a New Picture" is the theme of the 16th Annual Economic Growth Summit, set for Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Coastal Carolina University's James J. Johnson Auditorium in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. The summit, from 9 a.m. to noon, is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. This year's summit will feature two speakers, a distinguished economist and a successful local technology entrepreneur.

Richard Kaglic, senior regional economist serving the Carolinas at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, will speak about monetary policy and the economy. Kaglic joined the research department in 2009 and is responsible for analyzing regional economic conditions and developments, as well as educating the region's diverse constituents on the role of the Federal Reserve and its district banks. Prior to joining the Richmond Federal Reserve, Kaglic served as a senior economist for Eaton Corporation and as the chief economist for the Washington State Employment Security Department. He also spent 11 years as the senior business economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Paul Reynolds is president of Cowork MYR, a local company that provides an inspiring and supportive work environment for the freelance and entrepreneurial companies. He will speak about technology business development and acceleration. Reynolds is also founder and partner of TheDigitel Myrtle Beach, a tech startup dedicated to creating software solutions for hyperlocal news aggregators and content creators. He is also the owner and president of Blast Off Inc. He has also been a lead developer with SolWorks and a senior programmer for Backyard Sports Games with Atari in Seattle. Previously, he was an online manager and graphic designer with The Sun News.

Robert Salvino, CCU's research economist, will also provide an economic outlook for the Grand Strand area.

The summit will also include a panel discussion featuring Kaglic, Reynolds and Mike Schroll, owner of Mike Schroll LLC, a business that provides consulting on early-stage startup development and digital forensics. He is owner/operator of Cowork MYR.
