CCU welcome new students to campus

August 7, 2013

Coastal Carolina University welcomes some 3,600 students to campus on CINO (Coastal Is Number One) TIE (Tradition, Integrity and Excellence) Welcome Weekend from Friday, Aug. 16, through Sunday, Aug. 18. This figure includes new freshmen and transfer students as well as returning sophomore campus residents.

A variety of programming is planned during the three days to help new students make the transition to university life. Preliminary figures show 2,100 freshmen and 750 new transfer students have enrolled for the fall semester.

Friday features Move-In Day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., a family reception at 4 p.m. where families can meet CCU President David DeCenzo and college deans, and the "HTC Center Takeover," which is a sampling of what CCU's student recreation center has to offer from rock climbing to zumba and more, starting at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Move-In Day continues, along with a mountain bike ride, a trip to the beach, a "party" at Wheelwright Auditorium and a mini-CINO Night on Prince Lawn.

The New Student Convocation is on Sunday at 2 p.m., with a Class of 2017 photo of all 2,000-plus freshmen scheduled for 4:45 p.m. at Brooks Stadium and a barbecue cookout to follow at 5:30 p.m.
