Tru Sol to headline CCU’s fall multicultural celebration

Musical group Tru Sol will perform a mix of cover tunes and original music, backed by a live band, as part of Coastal Carolina University's Multicultural Celebration on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Prince Lawn. (Rain date: Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Admission is free.

Tru Soul will take to the stage from 11 to 11:30 a.m., and again from 1:30 to 2 p.m.

Also featured will be the Adande African Dance Company from North Charleston. Directed by Jesse Thrower, the dance company combines history with entertainment to create a singular musical experience. The dance company will perform from 11:30 a.m. to noon and again from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

The Myrtle Beach Pipe Band will also stage a performance, scheduled from noon to 12:15 p.m.

Other musical groups will join in on the celebration as well. Teal Temptations, a CCU student-led dance troupe, will perform from 12:15 to 12:30 p.m. C-Pan, the CCU steel band that involves music majors and non-majors takes the stage from 1:05 to 1:30 p.m.

CCU's Multicultural Celebration festival highlights the history, music, dance, art and food of many countries and cultures. In addition to ethnic entertainment, arts and jewelry will be on display, as well as offerings of cuisine from various countries. CCU student organizations and clubs will also showcase different cultures at various table displays.
