CCU screens the documentary ‘Miss Representation’

Coastal Carolina University is screening “Miss Representation,” a documentary film that examines images of women in media, on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. in the James J. Johnson Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Immediately following the film, a panel discussion will be held with members of CCU’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program, including Angie Fitzpatrick, Wes Fondren, Kate Oestreich, Julinna Oxley and Emily Porter.

“Miss Representation” provides viewers with a new perspective on women’s portrayal in mainstream media and its effects on women’s opportunities in leadership positions. The film highlights personal stories from numerous well-known celebrities, journalists and politicians, and it demonstrates the stark reality of the inequalities that exist within our culture.

The Johnson Auditorium is located in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, room 116. The Wall College of Business is located at 119 Chanticleer Drive East in Conway.
