CCU presents Opera Scenes

Coastal Carolina University's Opera Scenes presents "Verdant Plains, Nymphs and Swains," a concert of early Italian songs and Baroque arias, at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, in the Edwards Recital Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

The concert will be directed by David Bankston, CCU professor of music. Bankston has an extensively career in opera and musical theater, having leading roles at the Houston Grand Opera, Washington Opera and New Orleans Opera. He has recorded two albums of original songs and was involved in setting up Guitars in the Classroom, a program that provides guitars and music instruction for students and teachers in area elementary schools.

Opera Scenes is a musical workshop comprised of CCU students. Members of Opera Scenes include Wendy Baruch, Nick Bone, Margie Casella, Erica Elliott, Molly Fay, Robert Hampton, Marques Ligons, Chandler Parnell, Courtney Pendleton, Terrence Piette, Naomi Schulman and Brandon Sustakowski.

The Edwards Theatre is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts building at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. in Conway.
