CCU names Causey-Gomez as project coordinator

Kimberley Causey-Gomez has been named project coordinator for Coastal Carolina University's Office of Philanthropy.

Causey-Gomez will coordinate and implement project and fundraising activities and special events, and she will serve as a liaison between the Office for Philanthropy and other departments within CCU and in the community.

A native of Richmond, Va., Causey-Gomez earned a bachelor's degree in social work specializing in family and child welfare from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1990 and a master's degree in social work in 1992. Before joining CCU, she worked with Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina in Myrtle Beach and is currently involved in the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Grand Strand's Class of XXXIV.

Prior to relocating to Myrtle Beach in 2011, Causey-Gomez served as the assistant commissioner for the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Human Services. She provided territorial oversight of the Offices of Intake and Emergency, Residential, Psychological and Pre-School (Head Start) Services, as well as the Divisions of Children and Family Services (CFS) and Juvenile Justice.

During her 20 years in the Virgin Islands, she also was an administrator for CFS, director for the Infants and Toddlers Part C Program and executive director for the National Association of Social Workers, VI Chapter.
