Java Jabber to host discussion about campus life

January 21, 2014

A panel of Coastal Carolina University faculty, staff and students will moderate a panel discussion titled "College Life: How dry and smoke-free should our campus be?" at the next Java Jabber on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 4:30 p.m. in the Bryan Information Commons. The event is free and open to the public.

The panel will consist of Mark Flynn, professor in CCU's Department of Communication; Sherer Royce, professor of health promotion; Kay Hungerford, administrative specialist for the Department of Theatre; Darcy Barr, student and Jackson Scholar; and Jillian Ditch, student.

The discussion will cover such topics as the role alcohol and tobacco should play in campus life, whether newspapers should be allowed on campus if they include ads for alcohol and whether banning tobacco products on campus is a good idea. (CCU has recently announced its decision to go smoke-free.)

Bryan Information Commons is part of Kimbel Library.
