CCU is hosting Sun Tzu’s ‘Art of War’ discussion

Coastal Carolina University’s next Tea and Ethics forum will focus on a discussion of Sun Tzu’s “Art of War,” on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 4:30 p.m. in the James J. Johnson Auditorium; the event is free and open to the public.

Sun Tzu was a Chinese military general and philosopher during the 5th and 6th century B.C. His influential book “Art of War” contains Sun Tzu’s philosophies on military strategy, including psychological warfare.

Military experts from Machiavelli to Mao Zedong and from Norman Schwarzkopf to Colin Powell have used Sun Tzu’s principles in developing military strategy. Outside of the military context, Sun Tzu’s principles have been applied to office politics and corporate strategy and even to the world of sports.

A panel of experts will explore the question “What does Sun Tzu have to say to us?” The panel will be comprised of Chunju Mun, teaching associate of philosophy and religious studies; Ray Moye, associate professor of English; Matthieu Chan Tsin, associate professor of communication, languages and cultures; and Emily Crookston, visiting professor of philosophy and religious studies.

The James J. Johnson Auditorium is located in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration building at 119 Chanticleer Drive E. in Conway.
