CCU opens Celebration of Inquiry to community
The Celebration of Inquiry (COI) was first mounted at CCU in 1999 as a platform for members of the university community to share research, encourage creative thinking and showcase unique expression of ideas. It features a well-known keynote speaker, several plenary speakers and presentations by faculty, students and community members, along with an array of performances of art, music and theater.
Classes are redirected for a portion of the event, ensuring that students take advantage of the sessions.
This year, CCU's Head Football Coach Joe Moglia, a former CEO of TD Ameritrade, will give the keynote address at 7 p.m. on April 1 at Wheelwright Auditorium.
Entertainment sessions will include the Songwriters of the Strand Concert at 7 p.m. on April 2 and a concert by David Bankston and Friends at 7:30 p.m. on April 3.
Other speakers featured will be Winona LaDuke, a Native American land rights activist, environmentalist, economist, politician and author, ?speaking on "Track: Society & Gender," and Eric Brown, an associate professor of philosophy at Washington University who specializes in Greek views on happiness.
Coastal classes will be redirected to the COI sessions between April 1 at 12:05 p.m. and April 2 at 5 p.m.
The presentations will be organized along six multidisciplinary content areas: arts and humanities; business and the economy; education and human development; science and technology; ethics and the environment; and society and gender.
