CCU to hold Day of Remembrance Ceremony

April 1, 2014

Coastal Carolina University will hold its eighth annual Day of Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, April 16, at noon in James P. Blanton Park in front of the Edward M. Singleton Building. The public is invited to attend.

The ceremony is designed to memorialize members of the CCU family -- students, faculty and staff -- who died during the previous year. The ceremony was initiated on April 20, 2007, to honor those who lost their lives during the Virginia Tech mass shooting on April 16, 2007.

The program will include vocal selections by CCU's gospel choir, the Coastal Inspirational Ambassadors, and the ringing of a bell. The bell will toll for each CCU family member whose life was lost the previous year and once for all of the Virginia Tech victims.

James P. Blanton Park is located in front of the Edward M. Singleton building. This event is co-sponsored by the University's Student Government Association and Counseling Services through the Division of Student Affairs.
