Registration is still open for 2014 Relay for Life at CCU

April 1, 2014

Coastal Carolina University is co-sponsoring Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society from 7 p.m., Friday, April 4, to 7 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at the CCU Track. This year, the theme is Super Heroes. The public is invited to participate on a team or to provide donations to the cause of finding a cure for cancer.

Registration for individuals or teams is still open. The cost is only $10. Teams can sign up to walk or run as a Super Hero; contact the CAC club to choose your Super Hero. There are no fees for cancer survivors, who may register as individuals or on a team.

Entertainment and contests will be going on throughout the night, including a wing eating contest, speakers, a hip-hop/Zumba session, frozen T-shirt contest and more.

Teams will be providing food and refreshments of all kinds, with suggested donation amounts to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

The overnight event, co-hosted by the Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) club, is designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in the community. The event celebrates survivorship and raises money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives and help those affected by cancer.

Last year, Coastal Carolina University Relay for Life raised more than $120,000.

Currently, 56 teams and 805 participants have raised $52,133 for the American Cancer Society.

If you are interested in forming a team or want more information, contact Jessica Finne or Jamie O'Connell, co-presidents of the CAC club at cac-club@coastal.edu, go to the Relay for Life of CCU web site at www.relayforlife.org/ccusc or call Betty Ruth Herdman at 843-504-6115.
