Second annual CINO Week planned at CCU

This year marks the second annual CINO (Coastal is Number One) Week at Coastal Carolina University from Monday, April 21, to Sunday, April 27. Most events are free and open to the public. CINO day is Friday, April 25, from noon to 4 p.m. on Prince Lawn.

CINO Week celebrates the end of the school year with a variety of events highlighting the varying interests of students. The events for the week include:

Monday, April 21

* Commuter Breakfast for off campus students, from 8:30-10 a.m. in Baxley Overflow parking lot, with free coffee and doughnuts.

* University Place Talent Show at 7 p.m. at the Grand Strand Activity House Parking Circle located in University Place.

Tuesday, April 22

* Teal Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Brittain Hall and at noon ono Prince Lawn with Tell Us Tuesday.

* Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Prince Lawn.

* Dive-in Movie: "Frozen" at 8 p.m. at Williams-Brice Recreation Center pool deck.

Wednesday, April 23

* ChantaTHON Car Smash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Prince Lawn. Participants can pay to swing the hammer and help smash a car to raise money for ChantaTHON. ChantaTHON is an 8-hour dance marathon event held in October to benefit the Children's Miracle Network and McLeod Children's Hospital in Florence.

* Wildlife Walk from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge, located at 21424 N. Fraser St, Georgetown.

* Student Involvement and Leadership Awards at 7 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Thursday, April 24

* Tie Dye @ The Woods residence hall at 4 p.m. at the Woods Pavilion.

* Bingo Blowout at 10 p.m. in Hicks Dining Hall.

Friday, April 25

* CINO Day from noon to 4 p.m. on Prince Lawn. This year, the theme is Mardi Gras so attendees can expect the New Orleans experience with free food, activities, rides and free T-shirts.

* Mountain Bike Ride from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Jackson Bluff Mountain Bike Trails located on Gray Lake Boulevard, in Conway.

* Women's lacrosse vs. Presbyterian at 6 p.m. in Brooks Stadium.

* Elise Testone concert, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Elite Access tickets are $35; V.I.P. tickets are $25; general admission is $20, and student tickets are $10. To purchase tickets, contact the Wheelwright Box Office at 843-349-ARTS (2787).

* University Place Outdoor Movie Night: "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" at 9 p.m. at Grand Strand basketball court located in University Place.

Saturday, April 26

* ChantaTHON fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chipotle Mexican Grill, located at 1229 N. Retail Court. Sunday, April 27

* Second annual Shawn R. Ponton Memorial Car Show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Baxley overflow lot.

CINO Week is sponsored by CCU's Office of Student Activities and Leadership, Off Campus Student Services, University Housing, Teal Tuesday Team, Sustainability Initiative, ChantaTHON, Campus Recreation, Outdoor Recreation, Coastal Activities Board, University Athletics, Colleges Against Cancer and the Office for Philanthropy.
