CCU to host Waccamaw Water Quality Data Conference

Scientists from Coastal Carolina University and the Waccamaw RIVERKEEPER® Program are hosting the Waccamaw Water Quality Data Conference on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Burroughs & Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies, Room 100. The public is invited to attend.

Topics that will be covered in the conference include:

- Winyah Bay History -- Lee Gordon Brockington, Belle Baruch Foundation

- Colored Dissolved Organic Matter as a Precursor of Disinfection Byproduct in Drinking Water Treatment -- Alex Chow, Clemson University

- Benthic Macroinvertebrate Survey Preliminary Results

- Updates from Horry and Georgetown Stormwater Programs

- Updates on results from volunteer monitoring in North and South Carolina from the director of the Waccamaw Watershed Academy

- Updates from Waccamaw Riverkeeper Paula Reidhaar and River Advocate Christine Ellis

The conference is hosted by the Waccamaw RIVERKEEPER® Program, CCU's Waccamaw Watershed Academy and the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium. The event is open to the public. A complete schedule is attached.
