CCU calls on nonprofits to participate in ‘speed dating’ event

September 19, 2014

Coastal Carolina University presents the Campus & Community Research Collaborative on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kline Hospitality Suite of Brooks Stadium, a "speed dating" event intended to connect faculty members with community organizations as partners.

The event combines an interactive "speed dating" format with a complimentary luncheon to further facilitate networking. The Campus & Community Research Collaborative is a faculty-centered initiative to bridge community organizations as collaborative research partners. For example, researchers in the same academic department may work together on a project with a community organization to measure the social and economic impact of its client services. Researchers may be members of different departments within the same general discipline, or they could take part in an interdisciplinary project involving a complex set of questions from different perspectives.

Students can gain experiential learning activities resulting from the efforts of faculty's expanded community ties. The potential research opportunities are endless. The resulting data of this initiative can enrich both the CCU campus and the community.

This program is presented by the College of Science. Pre-register at www.coastal.edu/healthsciences/registration/.
