CCU professor has second poetry book published

October 1, 2014

Award-winning poet Dan Albergotti, chair of Coastal Carolina University's Department of English, has had a second full-length collection of poetry published -- "Millennial Teeth," issued by Southern Illinois University Press in its Crab Orchard Series in Poetry.

"Millennial Teeth," is described by the publisher as a "visceral collection …that maps a contradictory journey filled with longing and dread, cynicism and hope. A heady mix of traditional forms and more experimental verse, Albergotti's volume lures readers inexorably into the poet's obsessions with mystery, doubt, ephemerality and silence."

The author of another book of poetry, "The Boatloads," and two short collections, "Charon's Manifest" and "The Use of the World," Albergotti has also published his poetry in the Cincinnati Review, Five Points, the Southern Review, the Virginia Quarterly Review, and Pushcart Prize XXXIII, as well as other journals and anthologies.

Albergotti, professor of English, joined the CCU faculty in 2005. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Clemson University in 1986 and 1988, respectively, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of South Carolina in 1995.

?? Albergotti has received fellowships and scholarships from the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, the Sewanee Writers' Conference, the South Carolina Arts Commission, the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
